Select On when the adaptor is connected to a constant 12V to 24V supply, such as on a boat or caravan. On a motorcycle, ATV or similar, use Auto: the adaptor stays off until the input voltage climbs above 13.5V and switches off again once it falls below 12.5V, so it only supplies power while the engine is running and your battery is not drained.
