Product details

RFX Pro Series Throttle Tubes are precision made from hard-anodised billet aluminium. A sealed ball bearing and a Teflon sleeve take friction down to almost nothing, giving you a smooth, light throttle action.

Built to cope with the demands of racing, they stand up to crashes far better than a standard plastic tube. That toughness has made them a popular pick with many leading teams and riders racing in the UK Championships, STR KTM among them.

Fitting instructions

• Start by sliding the rubber boot down, then take the throttle housing apart and remove the old throttle tube, being careful not to damage the throttle cables.
• If needed, carefully take the grip off the old tube.
• Check the cables and housing for heavy wear or damage. Clean and lubricate them, or replace them if necessary.
• Clean the handlebar and look for damage where the old tube has been turning on it. If you find a ridge, fit new handlebars.
• Slide the new throttle tube onto the bar and lubricate it with a penetrating lubricant, ideally Maxima MPPL. Do not use grease: it collects dirt and will make the throttle stick before long.
• Put the cables and throttle housing back together, once more using a little penetrating lubricant.
• Tighten the throttle housing with it set in the right position on the bars.
• Set the cable free play to suit your preference.
• Turn the handlebars fully to each side to make sure the throttle works properly and the cables are routed correctly. You may need to readjust the cable.
• Refit the rubber boot over the housing.
• Cover the open end of the grip with a piece of electrical tape so no glue can get into the throttle barrel, then spread a little RFX grip glue around the outside of the tube at its outer end.
• Apply a little RFX grip glue inside the new grip and slide it onto the tube.
• Rotate the grip until it sits correctly, then leave the glue to dry.
• Fit RFX safety grip wire if required.
• Once the glue is dry, check once more that the throttle works properly.
