Product details

RFX Sport Series Throttle Sleeves are an affordable way to replace your OEM throttle tube without losing performance. They are made from Teflon coated nylon fabric, which gives a smooth throttle action and, unlike aluminium tubes, is kind to your handlebars.

Each sleeve is built as a direct OEM replacement, using an identical cam profile for accurate throttle control, and has an open end so it can be used with aluminium handguards. They suit all the popular off-road bikes and are an affordable, dependable choice.

Fitting instructions

• Push the rubber boot down, take the throttle housing apart and remove the old throttle tube without damaging the throttle cables.
• If needed, carefully take the grip off the old throttle tube.
• Check the cables and housing for heavy damage or wear. Clean and lubricate them, or replace them if necessary.
• Clean the handlebar and check it for damage where the old tube has been turning on it. If you find a ridge, replace the handlebars.
• Fit the new throttle tube onto the handlebar and lubricate it with a penetrating lubricant, ideally Maxima MPPL. Do not use grease: it attracts dirt and causes the throttle to stick before long.
• Put the throttle cables and housing back together, again using a little penetrating lubricant.
• Position the throttle housing correctly on the handlebars and tighten it.
• Set the cable free play to suit your preference.
• Turn the handlebars fully to each side to confirm the throttle works properly and the cable routing is correct. The cable may need a little more adjustment.
• Refit the rubber boot so it covers the housing.
• Cover the hole at the grip's end with electrical tape so no glue gets into the throttle barrel, then spread a little RFX grip glue around the outside of the throttle tube at its outer end.
• Put a little RFX grip glue inside the new grip and slide it onto the tube.
• Twist the grip into the right position and let it dry.
• Fit RFX safety grip wire if required.
• Once the glue has dried, check once more that the throttle operates correctly.
