Powersport manufacturers around the world have to meet noise suppression standards. A spark plug on its own does not give enough suppression, which led to resistor covers being introduced. These NGK caps cut electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, both of which can upset electronic ignition components and lead to misfires and poor engine performance.
The caps are made from very durable phenolic resin and EPDM rubber, with ceramic resistors for optimum performance and reliability. A resistor cover has to cope with extreme heat and vibration, stop flashover and keep water out.
