Tested at the highest level of competition and engineered for elite performance, the RFX Pro Series Rear Brake Lever is manufactured from aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminium for a blend of strength, durability and advanced functionality.

A smooth finish on the forged shaft keeps wear to a minimum over time. At its end sits a CNC-machined billet aluminium flexible tip that is spring loaded and rotates, reducing damage when it takes a knock. Steel teeth on the tip give you excellent grip even in the mud, so it stays reliable on any terrain, and a mechanical stop limits the tip's rotation to 90 degrees so it cannot be damaged by moving too far. For extra protection, the lever also incorporates a cable brake snake that helps stop it bending in a collision.

Fitting instructions

• Before you start, mark or note the height of the pedal tip relative to the footpeg.
• At the back of the brake bolt behind the frame, take out the R-clip or split pin.
• Remove the pivot bolt that holds the pedal to the frame.
• Unhook the return spring from the pedal and let it hang.
• Rotate the pedal outwards to expose the split pin at the back of the pedal clevis.
• Take out this split pin and the locating dowel, and the rear brake pedal will come away.
• Take the oil seals out of the old pedal, clean them and fit them to the new one.
• Clean every part using a multi-purpose lubricant, for example Maxima MPPL, so it is ready to go back on.
• Refit the brake clevis, then the locating pin, then the split pin.
• Refit the return spring.
• Put some waterproof grease on the pivot bolt, line up the pivot hole and refit the bolt.
• Tighten the pivot bolt to the torque stated in your owner's manual.
• Refit the R-clip or split pin to the back of the pivot bolt.
• With the pedal on, set it to the correct height and free play: slacken the nut above the clevis, then wind the plunger bolt in or out to suit.
• Next, fit the brake snake.
• Japanese models: take off the lower engine mount nut and washer, and swap the old washer for the new one attached to the brake snake.
• KTM models: take the new washer off the brake snake and put it to one side, as the KTM does not need it. Pass the cable round the lower engine mount and put it back inside the crimp fitting.
• Set the brake snake to the correct tension, leaving enough slack for the pedal to travel downwards.
• Crimp the fitting closed with pliers and trim off any excess cable.
