Product details
The VF4 builds on the VF3 with a series of upgrades aimed at better performance. Carbon fibre reed petals paired with a new resin frame raise airflow by 10% over the standard system, improving velocity and performance. The VForce4 also has external walls that shield the reed petals, helping them last longer.
How the VForce design works
Compared with a conventional reed valve, the VForce system has twice the reed-tip surface area. That brings two main advantages:
- Less petal travel: to move the same volume of air, the petals only have to travel half as far as in a conventional system.
- Better performance and longer life: with less distance to cover, the petals are more likely to open fully and to seal properly when "closed". Reed petals are always moving, so they never close completely, but the smaller movement in the VForce system cuts wear and extends their life.
To put it in perspective, a reed petal at 8,000 RPM opens and closes 133 times every second. Reducing its travel greatly reduces the stress and wear it has to deal with.
